Why Yoga?

To me, yoga is the practice of stretching my body, mind, and spirit through intentional breath and mindful movement. With each inhale and exhale, I come back home to myself. Yoga has helped me love myself more and more. It teaches me that self-love can look like movement, stillness, rest, and breath.

At To Serve Wellness, yoga is more than physical exercise it’s a practice of self- respect. We encourage every student to show up with intention, move mindfully, and honor their personal strengths and limits. Yoga is a space to explore your inner world, expand your awareness, and deepen your connection to yourself. While yoga has roots in ancient Indian philosophy, it can be practiced by anyone regardless of cultural or spiritual background. We ask that all students honor this shared space by giving one another privacy, and refraining from sharing personal spiritual beliefs during class. This helps us maintain a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment for all. Yoga, simply put, means “to yoke” or “to unite.” Traditionally, it is defined as learning to control the activities of the mind inviting focus, presence, and balance.
